MORE ABOUT MALMÖN
PLANERA DIN RESA IDAG
Bohus-Malmön is located north of the entrance to Brofjorden and southwest of the entrance to Åbyfjorden, outside Sotenäset. If you take a walk up to the water tower on the island, to the west you can see Smögen and Kungshamn, to the south Lysekil. The total area of the island is 4.38 square kilometers. Malmön "rose up" after the retreat of the inland ice about 2000 years ago. The majority of the buildings are located on the eastern shore of the island. Today, the island is inhabited by about 250 permanent residents. In the summer, (the industrial holiday) likely by more than 3000 people.
Bohus-Malmön is in the heart of a unique archipelago environment in the wonderful Bohuslän archipelago. Historically, the island has been best known as a fishing community and Sweden's first granite stone quarry. Today, it is more known for its varied surroundings where the sea meets cliffs in sweet harmony.
